Udham Singh Nagar was unintegrated out of Nainital district in Oct 1995. This district is named after Shri Udham Singh who was a brave freedom fighter and killed the brutal General Dyre who was responsible for the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.

Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology G.B. University is the 1st ever agricultural university of Bharat. It was inaugurated by the 1st Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on the 17-November-1960 as the Uttar Pradesh Agricultural University (UPAU). Later the name was modified to G.B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in 1972 to memorialize the great freedom fighter Govind Ballabh Pant. It's situated at a distance of 5 kilometer from Rudrapur. This university lies within the city of Pantnagar within the district of Udhaam Singh Nagar within the state of Uttarakhand.
